IKEA in Kansai Japan: All 3 Locations

IKEA store locations in Kansai Japan – Tsuruhama Osaka, Kobe Port Island and Kyoto Aeon Mall

We keep a short mental map of the places that actually make life easier when you’re looking after a house in Kansai. Costco is one. IKEA is another. Furniture, storage solutions, kitchen bits, the occasional impulse buy that somehow fits perfectly in a compact Japanese room — when you need it, you need it. Here’s the current layout of physical IKEA stores across the region.

Kansai has three IKEA locations. Two are full-size stores with the complete range, restaurants and large free parking. The third is a smaller city shop inside a mall. There are still no full stores in Nara, Shiga or Wakayama, though delivery coverage reaches most of those prefectures from the existing shops.

1. IKEA Tsuruhama (Osaka)

2-24-55 Tsurumachi, Taisho-ku, Osaka-shi 551-0023

The main Osaka store, opened in 2008 on reclaimed land near the bay. Full product range, restaurant, bistro and Småland children’s area. Free parking for about 2,100 cars (height limit 2.35 m). Shuttle buses run from Taisho (and other Osaka points) — adult fare ¥210 one way. Weekday hours are typically 11:00–19:00; weekends and holidays 10:00–20:00. A practical base for anyone living south or west of central Osaka.

2. IKEA Kobe (Hyogo)

8-7-1 Minatojima Nakamachi, Chuo-ku, Kobe-shi 650-0046

On Port Island, opened the same year as Tsuruhama. Another full-size store with restaurant, free parking for roughly 1,850 cars, and easy access via the Port Liner (get off at Minami Koen / IKEA-Kodomo Byoin-mae). Shinki buses also stop right outside. Same general opening pattern as Tsuruhama: weekdays 11:00–19:00, weekends and holidays 10:00–20:00. Convenient if you’re based in Kobe, Ashiya, Nishinomiya or western Osaka.

3. IKEA Kyoto

Aeon Mall KYOTO, 1 Nishikujo Toriiguchicho, Minami-ku, Kyoto 601-8417

A city-format shop that opened in November 2024 inside Aeon Mall KYOTO, a short walk from Kyoto Station’s Hachijo exit. It carries a curated selection of roughly 600 products chosen with Kyoto living in mind, plus inspirational room sets. You can also pick up certain small online orders here free of service charge. Hours follow the mall: 10:00–21:00 daily. No full warehouse experience and some services (gift cards, certain returns, full Family account recording) are limited or unavailable, but it is the only physical IKEA presence inside Kyoto city itself.

That’s the complete list as of 2026. The two large stores handle the heavy lifting — big furniture, full kitchens, bulk household goods. The Kyoto shop is useful for smaller items, inspiration, or a quick pickup when you’re already near the station. Online ordering with home delivery or store pickup covers the gaps if you live farther out.

When you’re furnishing or refreshing a vacant house, knowing exactly where these three sit can save a wasted trip. The same principle applies to the property itself — regular, practical attention keeps things from sliding.
